News Summary
On Nov 4, a sending‑off ceremony was held at the Qinghai Red Cross Hospital for the “China (Qinghai) 24th Medical Team to Burundi.” The team was organized by the Qinghai Red Cross Hospital together with the Provincial People’s Hospital, Qinghai University Affiliated Hospital and six other medical institutions.

Twenty‑nine volunteers will travel to Burundi in Africa for a one‑year medical‑aid mission. The team will cover twelve specialties, including obstetrics‑gynecology, general surgery, orthopedics and ophthalmology.

Since 1987, Qinghai has sent 23 previous teams, a total of 515 people, to provide free treatment, medical‑education cooperation and health‑education outreach for patients in Burundi. They have also shared new techniques and helped raise the skills of local health workers.

The commander of the 24th team, Liu Gang, said the group will work with “loyalty, dedication, rigor and efficiency,” using skilled hands and self‑less hearts to protect the health of the Burundian people.
